Rick regularly consults with selling shareholders, management and lenders, and financial and tax advisors with respect to buyout transactions and stock based incentives for privately owned businesses. His team has extensive experience designing deals and programs in a complex, inter-disciplinary environment involving ERISA, executive compensation, income tax, and corporate finance and securities law. Christopher L. McLean advises corporations and shareholders with respect to all types of M&A and corporate succession transactions, including ESOP purchases and sales, leveraged buyouts, stock sales and corporate redemptions, mergers, reorganizations, asset sales and purchases, and generational transfers. He works with corporate stakeholders in evaluating all options for an owner’s exit of the business and how to best accomplish the desired goals by undertaking a comprehensive approach that considers all angles from estate planning to execution of the exit transaction to governance succession. Christopher is a nationally recognized ESOP advisor, member of the national legislative and regulatory advisory committee of The ESOP Association as well as a member of the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) and a regular contributor to both The ESOP Association and NCEO. He received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Richmond School of Law.
